BioA Brief History of Me

“I CAN take any empty space and call it a bare stage. A man walks across this empty space whilst someone else is watching him, and this is all that is needed for an act of theatre to be engaged.“

These lines from Peter Brook’s 1968 essay The Empty Space, have fascinated Pierre for over a decade now, and have been at the heart of his preoccupations for just as long. Almost all of his work begins and ends here; it starts with a space (a stage, a format, a medium) that cannot simply be assumed or taken for granted, but must be defined, owned and made sense of, and it always ends in an encounter, an experience.

Since no single approach or technique can systematically work for every situation that interest him, Pierre has trained in a variety of techniques and fields to achieve his goals. This has included studies in the humanities, a bachelor in Electroacoustic composition and other specialisations in media creation, theatre and dance studies both formal and informal, travels, film production and post-production training, and of course work experience in related fields.

In his spare time, Pierre enjoys playing music (Gamelan), cooking and learning about food, reading about quantum mechanics, and writing about himself in the third person!
